I had a listen to the BBC interview. What I found most interesting is the American edge to the British interviewer's style and accent. It contrasted badly with some of the contributors to his documentary who made a strong case for the conservation of local cultures - not copying hip-hop music and culture. I then had a quick glance on what Wikipedia had to offer on the subject, which is often a worthwhile strategy. Their article wasn't great but had a hyperlink to what I thought was a much better documentary (by an American...) located here
